Picola Silo Art, Victoria, Australia

April 11, 2021

A new addition to the Silo Art Trail is the impressive Picola Silo Art. The artwork was completed by artist Jimmy D’Vate in December 2020. The detail and the colors of the Parrot are incredible, along with the backdrop of the Barmah National Park. It blows my mind how they create such life like pieces of art on such a huge cylinder surface.

Whilst we admired the artwork there were many tourists stopping to admire the awesome piece of art. It wasn’t long until fellow tourists were happily chatting about the artwork and trying to locate the hidden hook in the painting. Jimmy D’Vate included a hidden hook to represent some of the history of Picola. Back in the day Picola was known as “the hook” as Picola was situated at the end of the train line.

The Picola Silos are privately owned and are still in use. There is plenty of space to park and view the lifelike painting. There are plans to paint the concrete silos directly behind the painted silo once funding has been raised.
