You cannot visit Cowes, Phillip Island without taking at least a stroll out onto Cowes Jetty which was built in 1870. The jetty is a popular spot for fishermen who can be seen lined along the length of the jetty. It is also where the Ferry departs/arrives to/from Stony Point and nearby French Island. You can also catch a cruise to check out the seals at Seal Rock.
When we visited the jetty it was being upgraded, that certainly didn’t stop the fishermen frequenting the pier, others like ourselves walking out to the end of the jetty. From the end of the jetty you get a lovely view looking back into Cowes. The small sheltered beaches that are situated near the pier with tourists enjoying their sandy beach escape.
For those looking for a place to meet up with family & friends nearby you can find BBQ’s and a playground. As you have a BBQ or picnic and relax taking in the fresh sea air, your eye can be drawn to the Cowes Jetty.
