The Waranga Dam forms part of the Goulburn River irrigation system irrigating an area of 626 square kilometers. The dams area is 58.5km.
We visited the Waranga Dam whilst staying at the nearby Greens Camping Ground in Whroo which is in the Rushworth State Forest. After being surrounded by the gorgeous Iron Bark trees in the forest it seemed strange coming across such a large mass of water which is enjoyed by many.
The Dam is used by locals and tourists who enjoy their water sports, including jet ski goers. If you are looking for a spot to throw in the fishing rods, this is a prime place to be especially if you are after Redfin!
Whilst not everyone is into water sports, it is also a place to take a stroll or sit and relax.
