The Sale Powder Magazine was built in 1864-1865 to store explosive powder used by the gold mining industry.
We walked around the Powder Magazine as part of exploring the River Heritage and Wetlands Trail. It’s a beautiful area to take time out and enjoy the outdoors. Looking at the building you would think it was a cottage.
For those interested in history you can include the Sale Powder Magazine as part of a day exploring Sale. Whilst in the area don’t forget to check out the historical Swing Bridge Sale, the oldest operational swing bridge in Australia. This also forms part of the River Heritage and Wetlands Trail.
Next to the Powder Magazine there is a picnic table. Why not take time out and relax in this historical area and imagine what the area was once like.
