After strolling along the beach from Cowes to Ventnor Beach we took a detour and explored the nearby Ventnor Common Bushland Reserve. We were pleasantly surprised to find the reserve not far from the beach near built up areas. It’s a lovely place for locals and tourists to visit. It is a very easy walk for all fitness levels. Some of the reserve is graveled whilst other areas there’s a boardwalk which leads to a bird watching area. Here you’ll find information on what types of birds call this home.
On our visit we saw a number of wallabies alongside the track, one even taking time out on the track in front of us. As we approached the wallaby very quickly hopped off into the scrub and kept a watchful eye on us.
For those wanting to sit and take in the serenity there are seats dotted through the reserve.
The reserve is located on both sides of the Ventnor Road, ensure you check out the signage to find out what is allowed in the area you are exploring.
