Elsternwick Park is a tranquil place where you’ll find people of all ages, dogs of all sizes, skate board enthusiasts, walkers, joggers, people touching up on their tennis and basketball skills, kids playing in the playgrounds.
It’s an awesome place to meet family and friends to have a picnic whilst watching the kids play. With seats scattered around the park where you can sit and relax, perhaps reflect on your week or simply take in the fresh air whilst you watch people go past. There is something for all ages.
The scenic lake is fenced off which is great. Safe for young toddlers. You can walk your dog around the lake without having to worry about it disturbing the wild bird life. It is requested that you do not feed the birds. There is something about the lake which brings tranquility and peace.
This is an awesome sized skate park suitable for all ages and skill sets. A great place for the kids to skate. A place you can watch them and admire the beautiful lake in the background.
There are two decent sized play areas. One even has a game like connect 4!! The playgrounds offer something for all ages to enjoy. A great place for them to burn off their excess energies.
Dogs are welcome here. There are some areas near the playgrounds where the dogs are required to be on a leash. Overall it’s a large area for them to roam free. There are taps to ensure your pooch is hydrated. Just remember to clean up after your pooch.
There are two BBQ areas of which both are very clean. There are picnic tables nearby under shelter, to protect you from the sun or provide protection on a rainy day. There is a tap close by. Both BBQ/picnic areas are close to playgrounds. You can cook up a treat whilst watching the kids play. Public toilets are nearby.
If you’re with a group there’s plenty of room to kick a ball, play badminton or throw a Frisbee….options are there to enjoy the sparse lawn area. A great destination for parent groups to catch up.
Whilst it’s not a full basketball or netball court it is still an awesome place to shoot some hoops. You will find both a basketball hoop and netball hoop. With a funky painted wall to divide you from people practicing tennis on the other side.
A track goes around the entire park and around the lake, it’s suitable for prams, wheel chairs, joggers, walkers and skaters. On our visit there were several using the track, some with their headphones on singing away happily as they either jogged or walked around the grounds. Others simply strolled along hand in hand.
It was a delightful place to visit. A place we will return. Whether you come here for an hour or more I am sure you will leave feeling uplifted.
